Got some Grades: Lincoln Mems....Party at my house tonight!!

Almost fell off the couch last night! If you collect Memorials you know how tough getting anything in MS67 from the 1960's is.

Line# Cert# Coin Date Denomination Variety Country Grade

1 21553938 1963 1c USA MS67 Pop 2/0 (Yeah!!!)
1 21553937 1963 1c USA MS66 ( not bad!)
2 21553939 1962D 1c USA MS66 (tough date!)

Date Rec'd: 4/8/04
Date Shipped: 4/29/04

The 63 is truly a tough coin in MS67 and the 62D's are just a very crappy lot 99%+ of the time. The Miller Lite and Yagermeister is on me tonight!!

Great score. Can you provide any details about the source(s)?

    Wow!!! That's impressive! Good job!

As for me, I got about 15 rolls of 63-p from Wayne Herndon. After the first roll I opened being so nice I thought for sure I was going to find an ms67... but the best coin I got out of all of them was still from that very first roll. I'm sure I have no 67's, but could put a serious dent in the ms66 population (well maybe by 10-15 or so).

Are you going to sell it? Do you collect high grade Lincoln Memorials? I have only collected them, but have so many duplicates I'm going to have to start getting them graded and sell them. I may have not even one but a duplicate 1966,68-s,74,74-d,80-d in ms67, and 97-p in ms68! If you don't collect these and just sell them I'd love to work out a trade (but we'd have to wait for mine to be graded!)

    Congratulations again!

Congrats, I have rolls and rolls from that era that my Dad put away. I keep meaning to cull through them and find the best for submission. Whats the value of a 63 RD MS67?

I bought several OBW rolls last winter and the one roll yielded 5 in 66 and this one in 67, from an eBay seller(don't recall the name) who own's a pawn shop. Just a real lucky/rare find! The 62d is from 5 clear tubed rolls bought as simple BU rolls from a local dealer in Ohio. I guess it just comes down to good old fashioned leg work and some luck. The hunting and searching is what I enjoy most about the hobby!!

Chris... At the last Blue Ribbon show I bought a roll each of 68-S, 69-S, and 70-S proof nickels off John Sheets for $10 per roll!!

Still haven't checked them, but hoping for a couple worth slabbing!! Top ones on each roll are cameo!!!!

I do have a Lincoln Memorial Registry set but I would rather not reveal the name. The 1963 in MS67 will be sold on eBay to allow me to buy other coins, I'm a collector not a dealer. Being the 2nd graded 67 I would guess it will yield some strong money since none of the top 10 sets have the other one. Who has the first? I have an idea but I'm not positive. I posted the thread to show the newbies that even the small collector can make big scores with some practice and determination......and of course some luck!

Yeah, some pics would be great! I'd love to see what a 1960's ms67 looks like so I can get an even better idea about if any of mine have a chance. I'd love to buy it but I don't want to spend that kind of money on any Lincoln after 1928. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for one myself.

Be sure to check the reverses of the '69s, there's a really nice TDR, pup MONT, FIVE, and UNITED. I have one but can't get good pics (proof coin glare oerwhelms my QX3).

    Chris,

Did you get those from me? I had about 100 OBW rolls of each of those dates that I've been selling on eBay for the past year or so. No pawn shop, though?????

    Super scores by the way!

    Wayne-

They came from somebody in St. Louis I believe. I bought $60 worth of Lincoln rolls for about $85. Unsearched or so the story goes. I guess the unsearched claim can actually be true. I just wish we could still buy rolls of dimes and quartes from the 60's for 1.5x face. I will post pics when the coins come back by the way. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I think I actually spend too much on the rolls of coins I buy, but if you get a many $1000 coin in a roll, I guess who cares if you paid $.75 or $2.75 foir the roll!
