I have been thinking that every time i see Barry Bonds hit another home run, the lucky fan that grabs the ball is happy.
With that being said how can he prove lets say he owns home run 675. by video tape?? i would still say how do i know you didnt sell it already.
What i think baseball should do is stamp these balls with a signature form the commisioner or the player himself right after it is hit to prove the authentication(after the game that is) of the home run. like mike piazza hit the other night.
If you caught lets say barry bonds homerun # 695 and it was authenticated by mlb inside a case or something i bet you could sell it for big bucks on ebay or wherever without any question if it was that ball or not.

I think this is a good question/topic. As you remember when Bonds, Sosa, McGwire were shooting for the record, the balls were marked so a 'switch' could not be done. In the case of these other HR balls, I wonder if they are going over to someone of responsibility to 'record' the event/ball. Maybe someone has read something on this, can enlighten us further.

I got a good laugh out of that... Thanks!
