Commemorating the enfeoffment of Bavaria to Otto von Wittelsbach in 1180. Inscription on the reverse, “Before God and the conscience of world history, I can affirm that through the centuries it was the honorable duty of my family to serve in the honesty and fidelity the country, the country whose leaders they were called to be.     I have to agree with Bill. Although wonderfully rendered, I've never been turned on by those medals with one -- or even both -- sides filled with nothing but words. It makes whatever design there is do all that much more "carrying" of the artistic burden. I suspect, though, that Goetz didn't have free rein on this project and the "older" (17th-19th century) style was preferred by the customer.
