Hologram Silver Eagle Opinions???

I have seen these around and I don't particualarly find them desirable. (Kind of nifty thought but not practical) I haven't ever seen one in person so I can not really say I like or dislike it. What are you guys Opinions of these. Are they junk, Novelty or Valuable ( or just a junky novelty with some value)image

I like the Royal Canadian Mint's hologram coins. Is this some type of after-market hologram job?

I don't remember hearing that the U.S. Mint was producing any hologram coins?? image

  • These guys put some kinda "goo" on the coin that has a prismatic effect.
It's not very nice looking "in hand" and doesn't look very proffessional.

I bought a couple of the State Quarters done by them............... image
  • I watched a documentary on mints some years back and they did a spot on hologram coins and making the dies for them( I think with lasers) It was one of the more fascinating documentaries I have watched.. I just don't know about these "hologram" things I see on EBay. Strikes me as kind of touristy.

It's an after market job. It's not really a true hollowgram. If it were a tru hollowgram like the Canadian mint coins, there would be little or no relief.

They're junk - don't bother. It's just some company wanting to make a buck off of the newbies and trying to sell them overpriced garbage that they deceitfully advertize to be rae or valuable. The US Mint has a good section on these and colorized coins. Link

I have one of the Canadian gold hologram coins. It is very cool to look at.
