    Get some acetone and soak that 1853 50c as soon as you can. Put the coin in a bowl and be sure to cover it. A Q-tip using acetone will help getting stubborn PVC off. I have saved several coins this way.

    PS...........Don't use your wife's fingernail acetone. Get some commerical strength at Home Depot.

    Thanks, for the advice. I have been reading all the old posts on PVC removal with Acetone.
    I will post a before and after picture for anyone interested.
