Two cool change finds today

I found these two nickels today. The one has a sm clip; the other is missing part of the date. I'm wondering if this was due to worn dies or something else.

Filled die maybe on the first one?

Don't know about the 2nd. Does it look like it happened at the mint?

MS70; yes the clip did happen when it was minted. It's hard to tell from the pic but the coin has the same shape and depth on the obv and rev. It also has a very sm disk clip 180 degrees fron the larger clip.
