What do you think of this 1918 Indian gold sovereign

Unlike some of the other branch mints which were active for about 50 years, the Bombay mint in India only issued sovereigns in 1918. Any coin type or mintmark which was issued for just one year tends to be harder to find, because it will have extra demand not just from date collectors, but also from type and mintmark collectors. In the case of the 1918-I sovereigns, collectors of Indian coins may also want to add one to their collection, even though it would normally be classed as a British coin.

It's hard to tell if this one is AU or UNC. There a lot of little ticks all over George's face so it could be anywhere up to MS 62. A bit better date, this was one of my favorite dates to cherry pick from the local bullion dealer. Until he caught on to me.

I like it, yes it has some ticks, but it still looks MS to me.

  • George's hair kinda looks flat, might be the pics though.

  • i'd say it was EF.

Don't shoot me for stating that though, just my honest opinion, i think it's seen circulation, albeit briefly. I still think it's a nice coin though, and i like it! image
