Dutch Lots......Opinions?

Anyone ever bought any? I thought about listing some one eBay for $1 each. I thought I may get some bids because I actually do have a ton of stuff that I need to move and if people are happy they may buy more if I relist. How much does it run to list one and feature it? Anyone tried this?

  • I ran one Dutch Auction on ebay. You are charged one listing fee and their normal % on each purchase. I don't particularly care for Dutch Auctions because too many sellers promise the "Big Card" in one of the lots and there usually isn't one. Most Dutch Auctions don't appear to do very well in my opinion. Mine wasn't too bad but I wasn't selling sportscards in that auction either. Also, for me it was kind of a hasstle going back and forth to the post office to ship out the lots (not everyone paid at the same time). I doubt I will be doing anymore.

  • Speaking from a buyer's perspective, the only way that I'd bid on a dutch auction is if there wasn't a lot to go around and there was a decent card involved. When lots are limited then everyone knows that all the cards will go out. No one knows if the big money card will go out in those bigger "thousand lot" ducth auctions. I say if you make one, make it reasonable small that you could sell out all your lots but you still need to give them something to hope for.

Most do suck, but I do agree w/ Pmaker. Make a smaller grouping and you may actually get someone to buy all of them if something pretty good is guaranteed.

  • I buy them, and I kick myself every time I do. Once in a whilr you get some good stuff, but you have to read the text carefully. there are guys who claim to have unsearhed cards froma card shop buyout or an estate, I skip them because i know thatas a con. One i boought from a guy who seemed very nice and claimed it was great stuff and everyone who bought was delighted and best yet, the money goes to a children's charity actually included 68 of the same Terry Davis card in a 400 card lot. (If you are going "who?" thats the point.) Allen what kind of stuff are you putting in. I might be interested and you could save ebay fees, by going direct on the board.
