Are these results typical when searching for silver coins at the bank?

I got about $500 of halves from a local bank. About 25% of the rolls were presorted by date and labelled in handwriting. Included in the mix were:

1980-P
1976-P
1974-P
1973-P
1972-P
1971-P
1967
1966

Most of these look to be uncirculated.

It sounds like either a collector was cleaning out some excess inventory, or, perhaps more likely, a collector's heir didn't know what to do with them, so they just deposited them.

I've had some good luck getting solid rolls of 40% halves from a bank, usually when silver is low enough that many dealers won't pay a premium for them.

Some banks send their excess cash to a central collection point every week, while others, particularly smaller banks, keep their coins around for a long time.

It's always a thrill to get old rolls of halves from a bank - you never know what you'll find!
