Early last week while talking to Kristine, my 12 year old neice, on the phone, she mentioned doing a project on the country of Bahrain. She started spouting off all kinds of facts and statistics about the country to me. I asked her if she would like to have a coin from that country for her project. She was thrilled. You would have thought I had just offered her a gold nugget the size of a grapefruit. 
Well, we mailed the coin to her and she got it in the mail yesterday. She called me today and was so excited to get the coin. I also sent her a GB Penny, just because. When she found out that the 2 coins were hers to keep, she proceeded to gush with thanks. I think I have successfully hooked a YN on the DarkSide.

Hey i got those Third Reich coins you sent, gotta love that eagle on the reverse (you know it's giving me the same look that my mother's pet parrot gives).
I could almost get a collection of these things going, i've always been fascinated by Second World War history, and the varities of alloys used are also great cos they reflect the war's economic effects.
I've also seen coins of this period with the Swastikas drilled out, i could do with an example of these also, as a brilliant example of the anti-nazi feelings that were around at the time and afterwards.
When I package the coins up, I am going to put each set from a different person wrapped seperately with a little note saying who the coins are from (forum name only) and how I came about getting the coins for her. I will be sending them out to her when I get back from Hawaii. So the coins will arrive for her close to her birthday.
I will let you all know her reaction to the goodies.
