That may be true, Mac but you can't deny in spite of the weak photos that it's a desirable piece.

Very nice, but too rich for me! What do you think it will go for (or will it)?

There may not be a buyer for that one. It's way too rich for me!

To Askari; I wish the photos were better. Frankly, I'm puzzled at anyone who tries to sell such a piece with tiny images. Anyway, if it's a rock solid 62 with full cartwheel (i.e. booming lustre), I would expect $3800 - $4200 to be reasonable.

The reason? There was a tiny hoard discovered (I think all 1845s) about a dozen years ago and most were choice unc. with original colour. They were saved in the year of issue as the story goes. They are still rare above 64 for any date, and I'm glad I secured mine for my type set in advance of the 2004 Spinks and the runup in not only the pound exchange. Frankly, I would be ecstatic for them to get the $5500 given the 1847 list slightly higher in Spinks. image

I'll try to image my 1845 and post tomorrow. With the new technique, I'm finally happy with the colours I'm getting on other pieces.

    Nice P/L surfaces. I wouldn't mind receiving one as a gift....since that's the only way I'd ever get one...image
