Since SGC wont let me post on their board :)

MW - aka "Reid" - must be hitting the sauce again. On the SGC Board under "Network 54 and BOTN", MW writes:

"That IS interesting. Apparently our friend Eric Pugh (uniship) -- the same hypocrite who habitually lies about a 1954 Bowman Mickey Mantle -- is allegedly the troll known as koby. Why does this not surprise me? "

The fact that there are folks out there who actually admire and support BMW is bewildering. Nevertheless, to set the record straight - I am not Koby - I have had only one username on this board in 2+ years.

Thanks MW for once again creating fiction and trying to throw my name under the bus - you are a true class act. Can't wait to meet you in Cleveland!

I'll put myself in the category of not admiring MW, but I do support him. I think he has gotten an unfair shake from many. If someone has had a bad experience in dealing with MW, that's fine and I believe you have a right to be critical. But I do not understand those who simply rely on others to form such negative assessments and provide such negative commentary. Slamming someone when you have not had any direct experiences with them is unfair IMO. I have had great experiences with both MW and BOTN, and I think their actions the other night were childish and silly, but in spite of that, they are good guys to get answers, fill your want lists, and just provide good service.

    Grillo,

time and time and time and time and time again you have told us that you DO NOT collect psa cards, nor submit to PSA, you advocate only things Wentz and GAI.

    why is that exactly ?

    edited to add:
It seems very queer to me.............bro

Murcerfan...your're partly right...I do not submit to PSA, but I do buy PSA graded cards. I have never said I do not buy PSA cards. Talk to Joe Orlando about removing silly membership privileges to submit, and I'll probably submit from time to time as well. Please don't twist my words around and spin my comments...I do not do that to you so please return the courtesy.

Edited to add: I do buy SGC cards as well...I have had pleasant experiences with PSA/GAI/SGC dealers alike (including MW).

    thanks,
    JG

Grillo - Besides what Dave just mentioned, you have got to be kidding.

I have been collecting graded cards for only a few years. I have never seen so many complaints regarding one dealer than I have with MW and I have yet to see any dealer come to his defense - EVER.

Even SGC collectors have mentioned this to me in private.

Why are you such an SGC/GAI apologist? I am not being facetious, just curious.

John, I guess that's what makes this country great - the freedom to choose. But believe me, if anyone simply lied about your character - it would most likely upset you. Keep in mind the source:

I met personally in 1999 and was flabberghasted at his arrogance and rudeness
Idea of customer service is rolling around on the parking lot trying to pummel their heads
Gets arrested for battery at baseball card shows
Gets banned from almost EVERY major baseball card show in America
Is consistently involved in legal action - as a "baseball card" dealer - think about that
    Sends cards in for restoration
    Gets banned from PSA
Is not liked or respected by most major card dealers (just randomly call them and ask - listen to the responses)
Lies in attempt to ruin good people's reputations

These are all facts John - and just the tip of the iceberg by the way. Do you see some sort of pattern here? If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and looks like a duck then it is usually a duck. Are you sure you want to be associated with "supporting" this guy? While I don't understand it, of course that is your right. However, I - and a lot of others - find him and his business repulsive.

    God Bless America.

1420 sports...well all I can say is that he went out of his way to help me complete my 54 Topps Hockey set. He even was kind enough to slip me a few cards on the side for free so I know he didn't make much of a profit, if any at all. I understand why some of you think the way you do about Mike, but again, it's only fair that I rely on my own experiences with him.

I wish he would refrain from the constant barrages against PSA, the arguments with BOTN, etc, etc. He has so much to offer for the hobby and can be an asset if he chooses to.

Edited to add: Uniship...some good people have been kicked off the PSA boards as well. I do not condone his fighting at a card show, but there's two sides to every story, and again, if Mike would just sit back and think before he does or says something, he could be an asset to the hobby.

1420....GAI apologist? I don't think so. I am happy with GAIs grading and service, just as I hope you are with PSA. I have never submitted a card to SGC, but I do buy their graded cards from time to time.

It just seems that many of you are hostile towards me because my silly grading labels are silver and black instead of red and white. Last time I checked I thought we all collected sportscards. I think no less of anyone by the grading company they choose or the cards they collect...it's a hobby and it should be fun.

Edited: My wife is away visting her family for a few weeks, otherwise there is no way I would be spending my time posting this late on a Saturday night..

I wasn't being hostile, and I too own a few silver and black.

You left and came back (no biggie to me btw) for what seems like every single instance SGC or GAI is catching heat.

I think no less of anyone by the grading company they choose or the cards they collect...it's a hobby and it should be fun.

The person you came on this post to defend is the exact opposite, or so it seems. He does not make it fun for MANY collectors with his rants and tirades.

1420...I am not defending anyone...I am simply stating the truth. Mike needs to clean up his act a bit. Yes, it was presumptuous for me to claim I was leaving then come back. In reality I wasn't ready to leave and I wish I hadn't stated so.

When posting here is no longer an enjoyment for me, I will consider leaving. But at least for the time being, posting here is fun and informative.

Keep your hands up. I heard MW has a good right hook.

Sorry that MW has confused the two of us. Clearly we are two distinct people. I have read about MW's unethical behavior, but I was surprised that he is also so affected by paranoia.

...rather than simply being an ass to the hobby?
  • if Mike would just sit back and think before he does or says something, he could be an asset to the hobby.

Grillo, this is exactly everyone's point! If only MW would have thought before:

    He beats up a customer
He decided to send cards in for restoration
He decided to send doctored cards to PSA for 24 hour turnaround when he knew the experienced graders where at Card Shows
He got kicked out of PSA/CU dealers
He decided to attack everyone (including current customers) if they don't fully back him in every message board spat he gets in
He decided to have multiple IDs (on every board and Ebay)

If only MW would think before he does a lot of things he wouldn't be so hated or disrespected, but then again I think he was thinking. I get a feel that this is exactly what he wants to do.

Good point. That is like saying I would be a millionaire if I had more money. I like how he comes on the board and has multiple names and tries to act like a collector and defend BMW - hi Reidimage

  • Eric (uniship),

Don't be dismayed (I can tell you're not). Wince doesn't know as much as he lets on about who is who on which board(s). I think it's hilarious that he hasn't figured out what other ID I post under.

I knew the user ids had to be unique. Was not aware that members could not share the same first name too. What are the odds that there could be two seperate people with the first name of Eric?
