As noted in my post last night I bought 500 dollars in halves and checked them out.
I came up short $195.90 (there was a bent dime).
I went into the bank this morning and the vault teller was waiting on a customer (getting their loose halves, dollars and 2 dollar bills - He also had brought in a package of donuts) So thats how it is done
Anyway as I stood there she looked at me and queried with her eyes. I said "I was short almost $200 ", she kinda looked at me and the other tellers and put her hand on a slip next to her and they all had a nice expression on their faces and the comment was something like thats the money we are over. She waited until the customer was gone and the slip she was holding was an overage slip for $196.52. They kinda gleefully conferred and she asked if I wanted the cash or the halves. I told her I would take the halves and she went back to the vault and came back saying they would have to count the halves by hand as they just tried again and had run $100 thu the counter and it said there was like a $1000.
So she counted them out and as I walked out the door they were calling the repairman.
They were upbeat, apologised, and was basically great. She had another $200 or so and I told her I would come back next week as I was on my lunch break.
We went through them tonight and ther was 1 Franklin, 1 64 kennedy and 13 40% halves to go along with the I found 5, 90% half; 14, 68 40% halfs; and 68 Bicentennial halfs (are these worth saving?
from last night.
Total 3 Franklins 5- 64 Kennedy's and 27 - 40% kennedy, and I forgot the number of Bicentennials but It was fun if not an unforgettable experience.

I would not bother saving the 1976 Half Dollars. I would just save the 90% and 40% halves.
