Biggest NFL Jerk? Not TO...Simeon Rice

Former Cardinals teammate Simeon Rice, now a member of the Super Bowl champion-Tampa Bay Buccaneers, disparaged Tillman in an interview on Jim Rome's radio show last month.
Pat Tillman has been alone among today's professional athletes at the highest level, giving up his career to serve his country.
"He really wasn't that good, not really," Rice said. "He was good enough to play in Arizona, [but] that's just like the XFL."
After several more promptings from Rome, Rice allowed, "I think it's very admirable, actually. You've got to give kudos to a guy like that because he did it for his own reasons. Maybe it's the Rambo movies, maybe it's Sylvester Stallone, Rocky, whatever compels him."

it will be taken out of context by all who don't understand..it makes good news right?
anyone who thinks Simeon isn't one of the best in the league hasn't watched a Bucs game in a while, the
guy is dominant and was a BIG part of the super bowl run. I guess being the sack leader in 2002 didn't
mean anything?

that all the time about players. I find it stupid that Rice didnt' understand why Tillman gave
up millons to join the service but Rice is entitled to his opinion. Remember this was said
months ago, not today!

How can anyone tolerate the self serving, pound my chest, aren't I the greatest the world has everseen, jerks of sports today. Tillman showed class and humility in turning down interviews about his decision to serve. These athletes have been pampered all their lives once they showed any talent in any sport. Why has self promotion been so accepted by our society today? I know I am venting here, but what ever happen to your actions being the determining factor of how great you really are. It seems that the bigger your mouth is the more attention you get. I guess that's what it's all about...attention. I miss guys like Hank Aaron, Cal Ripken JR, Ernie Banks, Warren Spahn, Lou Gehrig, Bill Russell, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Bobby Orr, etc..

nice of you and your 61 posts to stop by, maybe you should re read my post before you come on here
and look like an idiot! Maybe one day you will have the balls to put up your team and back them the
entire season. Or are you just a bandwagon jumper who can't even pick a super bowl champ
after week 17?
Let us all know!

Usually I agree with you.......but.....when someone opens their mouth and utters crap like this:
"I think it's very admirable, actually. You've got to give kudos to a guy like that because he did it for his own reasons. Maybe it's the Rambo movies, maybe it's Sylvester Stallone, Rocky, whatever compels him."
Someone needs to put a baseball bat across it. GRANTED it may be misquoted etc, but going by what is written/quoted here the guy is a jerk. That is the blabbering of the hind end of a horse. REGARDLESS if the man met his end or not.
Im prior service and ANYONE who takes his (or her) time and UNSELFISHLY gives it to his country, that also happens to be my country, and yours, deserves respect. I dont care if he was part of the grounds crew for the Cardnials.
****Had a nice "rant" of a paragraph going and deleted it****
Anyway......
The only one looking like an idiot is you. If you look at the first post, someone referred to the Bucs as Super Bowl Champs. Once the next season passes and you go 7-9, I don't think you are referred to as Champs anymore. Why get so flustered? You must lose sleep at night because of the crap record your mighty Bucs put up. Guess what man, you've got another one of those seasons coming your way! Yes, 61 posts. I have a life. My friends are real, they are not icons! When I talk to people, it's not through keystrokes. Speaking of stroking, how many hours you spend a day on these forums? As far as my team.....I'm not trying to hide anything. I'm a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons........and after tonight, anyone playing the Bucs! Have a fine evening!
that you are not around here and are playing with your friends, because come football time there
is NO room for fair weather fans like yourself. I can see why you don't like the Bucs, they man
handled both your "teams" on our way to the super bowl. We learned one thing playing the
Falcons...Vick breaks in half really easy!
Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to your week 17 predictions!

You need some help dude and I don't think you're going to find it from anyone on this forum. My question to you is, how can you say I'm "bandwagon" just because I told you the teams I like? I know it may be tough for you to do, but why don't you go think about that one for a little bit. I don't feel like wasting my time with a fool like you, but I have one more comment to make. I was a Green Bay Packer fan before Tampa Bay even had a team. Now if you want to call that "bandwagon" you go right ahead.

It wasn't last month, it was like a year ago, maybe more.

You forgot to mention guys like Don Mattingly on your list, which I know would only grace it even more.

Deuts, Mattingly is a great addition. Also Tony Gwynn.

I like Simeon and what he does as a player, but I don't care if it was the Rome show.
Yes, people have a right to an opinion, but others are going to judge you on those same opinions.
That was something you just don't joke around about. Simeon should have said right then and there -
Tillman is a hero - forget about his talent, forget about his team. If Simeon had understood one bit of what Tillman was doing, joking around wouldn't have even crossed his mind.
I don't care if he was the 8th string punter, to set aside an NFL career like that and answer the call of your country.
Simeon Rice loses points big time. Did he ever come out and apologize?
