How would this Ruth card grade?

W551 Babe Ruth strip card; the strip lines are visible inside the right border:

I've seen this graded as "authentic" and I see where they've been assigned numeric grades. Which do you experts think would this one get?

Here's another; W515 Grover Alexander - I louped the scan marking in the upper right corner and it looks like just a very old (80 years) chipping in the card surface:

Thanks, BTW, to Scott Jeanblanc and BigKidAtHeart for finally teaching me how to upload my own scans. Excellent thread a couple of days okay called "Need Help?"....of course, it's back to the blackboard if this doesn't work....

  • You'll get an Authentic grade, I believe they stopped putting grades on them. If you read the SMR, it says any card that has to be hand cut with borders now will only get an Authentic only as a grade.

yes, RC - I read that and I just reread it with a different eye. It says "In order for PSA to actually assign a grade to any of the cards that possess visible/defined borders on ALL FOUR SIDES (caps are my own), evidence of that border must be present." My initial interpretation of that was that the border must be present. Since strip cards have "visible/defined borders" on only ONE side, they must not fall under the catagory as described above (as, say, a Post or Jello card would).

I've been thinking of sending these cards in because, if nothing else, the $10 or $12 bucks a piece would put them in very attractive holders - unless, of course, they get bagged.

Just got my grades - the Alexander got holdered; the Ruth pulled a 2! There's only one graded higher and I couldn't be happier!
