Grades in ! Crossovers okay

I just got notice of my grades from the recent set registry special. Overall am reasonably pleased and feel some collectors may find my crossovers from other companies a bit interesting.

I submitted 72 cards total and 22 were "broken out" from other graders' slabs. These 22 were all in two years / sets I have on the registry, Topps Baseball 1973 and 1979.

Rather than bore some more than I may have already done, I'll list the basic detail only;

1979s, SGC (4) 2 same, 2 down, PGS (not PRO) (2) 1 same, 1 down
1973s, SGC (12) 2 same, 7 down, 3 up, GAI (3) 1 same, 1 down, 1 up, CSA (1) 1 same
Total: PSA gave a better grade 4 times, the same grade 7 times, and a lesser grade 11 times.

No card changed more than one full grade point, the four ups were a 7.5 and 3 8.5s, going to the next full number at PSA.

Nothing exceptional or drastic, of the four other companies grades given, they seem somewhat comparable to PSA, perhaps a bit overgraded in general. The sample was quite small and certainly does not prove anything, but might be interesting to some.

    jaxxr,
    I said this on another thread. It can go either way sometimes. I have had great success getting upgrades for centered SGC 92's to PSA 9's. I've also had SGC 92's that were a little offcenter go to PSA 7's.

    Wow...I was told that was impossible...that PSA "never" graded "up"...learn something every day...thanks for the info!!!

    Hank,

    The cards were broken out of the slabs by me ( my wife actually ) and then put in penny sleeves and CardSaver 1 holders, then sent to PSA who could not know if they were ever graded by someone else before.

    I feel it would be tough for most cards to be "upgraded" if left in the original slab. However there are prior posts of some instances where it does happen.
