Fingerprints?

I saw this auction on Ebay and this guy mentioned a fingerprint. Does PSA count off for a fingerprint? Surely not. Here is the link if you want to see where the guy mentions this.

I believe they treat it as part of the surface grade. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny that. I always take a terry cloth towel or something very soft to wipe off fingerprints on the surface. Particularly the edges where my fat fingers spill over. image

  • it's always a good idea to wipe your chrome cards off before sending them in to be graded
  • what can you use to wipe em off without scratching them? some chromes seem to hold up and never scratch, and some (95 bowmans best, 99 chrome, 93 finest, etc) seem to scratch if you barely touch em

I have pulled some newer Chrome out of packs with fingerprints already on them (and not mine, either). I try to use a soft cloth and wipe the surface, it seems to work fine on the newer Chrome cards...

That's what I did. I think ol Mikey Jordan's fingerprint was on mine last night, I gave that a quick wipe when I saw it. Just don't EVER EVER EVER use a kleenex or tp. Very soft cloth, like the inside of a really nice sweatshirt, and do it very lightly and in one direction. Think about what your car looks like after you use the buffer...swirl marks... but on your chrome/finest they won't go away.

Also, it doesnt hurt to give a quick thumb-swipe to the edges to get that "loose" paper dangling on there. Especially with cards like pristine gold refractors that have that perfed edge.

I always use a soft cloth on my cards before putting them in a sleeve for permanent storage.

This topic is rarely talked about, but it should be.
