Revenge is sweet....I beat the....POST OFFICE!

topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭
For over a freakin YEAR, it has been touch and go with our local branch as to whether they would let my wife pick up my registered mail.
Finally yesterday I got into a match with the woman who was the worst offender.
She stated that it was a RULE and she would not break a RULE.
I asked for a complaint form and was told by her that complaints could not be made anymore.

"How handy" I said and stormed out.

And then LOOKED IT UP.

e.usps.gov/cpim/ftp/manuals/DMM/D042.pdf+USPS+delivery+regulations&hl=en&ie=UTF-8">The REGULATIONS<B">
DO42 (sec 2.0 is the one)

I got an apology, a phone call, and the clerk got a .....reprimand. (as close as a gov't employee can get to capital punishment)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Now we see if it .....sticks.

grrrrrrrrrrrrr

image

shoot, I guess the URL is too long. Oh well, DO42 sec 2.0
Make em look it up.
When she told me there were no complaints, she added "That's just the way it is."

AND....... She said that she had had problems with US before.
A ....separate.....section says that the postal employee is to deliver if they RECOGNIZE the customer.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr twice

Isn't it amazing how some of these stupid postal clerks make up their own rules? I like to send slabs in 4x4x4 mug boxes, and the one PO I have Sally go to has some clerks that decided the 3 1/2 x 5 minimum standard mail size for pieces of mail under a quarter inch thick applies to my boxes. I'm still fighting with them over it.

As far as registered mail, I solved that problem by getting a PO box and having registered items sent there, and I have her listed as my agent. The reality is if the registered mail is not sent restricted delivery, anyone at the mailing address can sign for it. Trying to get that across to stupid clerks is another matter.

I am talking about my PO BOX!!!!!

    grrrrrr.

She told me I could NOT designate an agent.

And the regs state that anyone at an address can sign as long as it is NOT restricted delivery.
Even specifies that anyone at an apartment house can sign.

She is a ...snitch?.....no.....switch?......no.......itch?.......no......aw shoot, it'll come to me.

    .................................................
The thing that pissed me off so much was that I brought in TWO regs from the previous day that were ALLOWED to be picked up by my swarthy, evil looking wife.

Her response: "Well......I'M......not going to break the rules."

My re-response: "Hmm since those rules were ALLEGEDLY broken, can we put the OTHER clerk in jail?"

  • Makes me glad I moved to a small town. All the employees "in" the post office are
    great!

The contractor that delivers mail to our house is another matter. Recently I found
a piece of boxed electronic equipment in the middle of my driveway when I got home,
    and it was raining!

A few days later I noticed a parcel had been "delivered" into the back on my truck!

We complained about this behavior, and so far, so good.

That's total BS. Demand to see the postmaster. What is it with these clerks?
  • I've only had to go to the Post office a time or two... the clerks have always been nice to me... so... as of yet... I can't complain...

  • Good! Now be sure to make it clear that if any of your mail mysteriously starts being misdelivered, the local media might somehow get wind of it...

Is that true?? If not true, you owe that clerk the favor of getting ahold of one of the complaint forms (ask the Postmaster) and fill it out detailing the misinformation being given to you by the clerk. I have filled out several of those complaint forms over the years. When they receive one it really shakes the tree! a copy goes to Washington DC headquarters.

When I called the USPS I was informed that the complaint was being made as we spoke. The guy was actually quite furious as this happens regularly and he gave me a confirmation number to refer if it ever happened again.
This was NOT taken lightly by the number I reached through the maze of phone trees but finally got a human.

AND....today at the PO.....I had another reg. SENT wife in while I sat in car. Clerk saw her ID and said, "Well, I guess you are the DESIGNATED REPRESENTATIVE today." So I know some fur was ruffled.
Not same clerk but seems the whole office may have got a fax today.

    Offending clerk not in today.

What offended me MOST was yesterday when I asked the &$##)* to SHOW me the reg book and she said she didn't HAVE to.

Oh....I mentioned that to the guy who was already fairly steamed.

Just hope it wasn't an act.

  • My one and only post office story (shared before)....

The one time I called to complain, the next day my mailbox was kicked off its post. What a strang coincidence.

  • Hmmm......they don't even ask me for ID at my post office. Anyone could pick up and sign.

As a retired Postal employee, I must defend my former employer. Try sending or receiving it any other way- you may not get it at all. In 15 years of sending and receiving registered mail, to the tune of several hundred packages, I've NEVER had a single one come up missing. This, despite some less than competent
window personnel on rare occasions. The USPS is the ONLY way to go for expensive coins.
  • Koynkewest.....I'm impressed.

USPS has lost three of my packages. Never any problems with FedEx or AirEx. UPS is another story... At any rate, what's being questioned here isn't whether or not USPS loses packages, but whether their customer service sucks image

One of the "perks" from living in a small town (population 1,400) is that the post office knows you very well. I get great cooperation from my them.

Sure wish I could say the same thing about my previous address.
