  • You want more info then yep here goes...

I've been collecting coins for about 14 years on and off, primarily British stuff, but i have recently been dabbling in US coins and hoarding practically every Silver Washington Quarter that came within reach, amongst other things.

I've collected quite a few British coin types over the years, Shillings, Brass Threepences, Victorian Jubilee Head coins, Shield Reverse Sovereigns, London Mint Half Sovereigns, all of which have now been sold, the last of them left the collection on monday when i sold then to a dealer in Germany.

Having cleared the more modern stuff it has given me more room to pick up a few decent hammered coins, and i feel like having a bash at collecting Stephen pennies eventually, but i want to get a few more choice type examples of other monarchs first before i specialise in this field. (it's not my main collection)

Another field i'm working in is James II half guineas by date (missing the elephant and Castle and the over lettering obverse variety), three coins to get in total, only 2 more to get! (not my main priority though)

The main collection though is Early Milled sixpences, i'll get whatever i can afford, but i'm concentrating primarily on those dated 1674-1694 (all date/die varieties), if a good one comes up for sale dated after 1694 i will gladly splash out (when i can afford it).

As you can appreciate i don't buy many coins a year.
  • Oh and some people might recognise me from various coin sites, coinpeople/cointalk/RCC/UK.RCC/numisaddict (as was)/predecimal.com/Omnicoin/etc.

It's all happening! I'm glad to be here though.

Well, welcome aboard. One thing we really lack here are British and hammered collectors and you'll make up the shortfall.image

Be careful of Ajaan and the dead king; they both like to use the phrase you did- "be really, really afraid".

Ajaan, it must be your new icon-you look so daring and resourceful on that steed.

Remember, your mushroom icon was a comfortable icon-non-threatening.... this new one though, brrrrr!

Welcome to the board. I don't know who you are, should I really be afraid?

Welcome to the Dark, Sylvestius. I don't know you, but I won't let that get in the way of my fear...image From your intro post, I do seem to vaguely remember someone else in the past year who seems to fit your profile. Is this your first handle over here?

    Happy Collecting!
