Flying Eagle cent question about toning

ManorcourtmanManorcourtman Posts: 8,010 ✭✭✭✭✭
Has anyone else seen one tone a blue color? The coin has never been cleaned as seen under 30x mag. It has a bluish hue on the top half of the obverse. Should I be worried about a bodybag in my future?

Iodine, if applied correctly will turn copper coins blue.

FEs are copper/nickel and may not react to iodine in the same manner as copper alone would.

I would also wonder about acetone, I've seen it color cents blue, but those too were copper cents, not N/C.

Got a picture? Or did I miss an attachment?

The pic I took is to large to post here. Will they bodybag for the blue-ish color? I believe the coin has a shot at 65, it's a 1857 btw. It's my favorite new acquisition! I love high relief and beautiful design!! As I stated, it is only about 40% toned. Thanks!
