In 1 hour, turn on the Travel Channel! Goes into the Fleer factory.

At 9PM (PST) on the Travel Channel, there's a show called 'Made in America' that will take you into the Fleer/Skybox factory and show how cards are made.

Should be interesting. Just spreading the word to people who may want to watch it!

I will attempt to record it and transfer it to Divx format. (compressed video format viewable with windows media player and a codec plugin)

  • I watched it, it wasn't that exciting, why couldn't they show more of the process on how it was made just like they showed the bikes.

I agree with Roastedcat ... they should of showed more of the production end...half of it was showing the pre-game warmups of the LA Dodgers.

I didn't think fleer produced its own cards....they outsource everything to a printer. none of the
companies have their own printing press.....did you all see them making cards on site???

they didn't go into the factory as they said in the commercial, but still cool image

and Kevin... did you see the press that was spitting out cards? i guess not image

  • did they show the Fleer redemption/replacement people at their desks asleep? did they show Lloyd Pawlak walking in with a bag full of replica jerseys from wal-mart and a pair of scissors? did they show vince carter and derek jeter sitting there with a million cards around them to sign? well then they didn't really show fleer.

I just got back over the last week 4 redemption rookies from 2002-03 Fleer Genuine basketball. They took 12 to 13 weeks from my mailing (cards arrived on different days) and were packaged in a penny sleeve in a toploader, placed inside a folded letter in a window envelope. For the value of these cards, that's sufficient protection IMO. The turnaround times are also not unreasonable.
I've also found the Fleer staff to be friendly and knowledgeable about their products at every show I've been to where they were set up.
Fleer's staff is nowhere near as large as Upper Deck's or Topps's. I'm not surprised that they are a bit slower in turnaround times.
I also find that I beat the odds for nice pulls far more often with Fleer products than with anything else.

    FYI,

I taped it. Watched it and decided it would not be worth the effort to convert it, and host it.

    Sorry.
