HSN fun.

Just saw a little HSN coins. They were selling "BU" saints for $900, raw. I managed to save someone the agony of overpaying HSN coins too. A friend called me and asked what a BU Saint was worth. I said about $500 and told him not to buy any coins off of the TV.

Shortly after they doing the St's they brought out the proof set combo of 1960-2000 for $1400. I don't know what the street value of that is but I figured maybe $600. he started to show off a 1963 proof cent and you can guess what came next. He said that a PR70 one sold for $51000 recently. He didn't tell the rest of the story behind that coin and all of the money lost on it.

I found it all quite amusing and disturbing all at once.

  • It can be hilarious to watch those shows... unfortunately... the broadcast channel that put HSN on here (HSN is actually based here in Central Florida, I believe) turned into a Spanish Channel... it was actually the HSN show that got me interested in coins in the first place... I remember they had some Proof Sets with the SBAs in them...

  • I taped half a show of it.I may make a transcript of it and post it on this forum sometime.I remember someone on there said that each Franklin half dollar has an entire ounce of silver in it and its ENTIRELY made of silver.Made me want to puke.
