Aramis Ramirez

Is this kid for real?

To be honest, I don't follow baseball all that closely but this kid looks like a stud? Is he just having a good beginning to the season or does he have something? He reminds me a lot of Pujols.. Am I nuts? Just trying to determine if investing in some of his higher end stuff is a bad idea or not.

Feedback appreciated.

  • Finally living up to the potential they said he always had. Just playing for a better team, with a better lineup.

He's only like 25 and should have a 35 HR, 90 RBI, above .300 season.

My advice - forget anything but his '97 Bowman Chrome RC. Or any parallel of that card. Everything else would be wasting your $$$. Right now you will probably be looking at spending close to $10 a pop. Just a guess though.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

Thanks. There is a PSA 10 Int'l refractor up, it's at $201 right now. I was surprised. I was thinking his Bow Chrome & refractors and staying away from the other stuff, although I did think about a couple of high end short print auto's in a cubbies uni from 04 Donruss Classics for example. They seem to be cheap. $10 for an auto #/50 or less.

For years he was a good prospect. Like most other PIT prospects, he just about died on the vine. Luckily they gave him to a team with vitality and a good hitting coach. Of course, anyone can have a hot start. I remember when Jermaine Dye was hot stuff because he hit like 9 home runs one April. Short term, he is eminently flippable if you already own or can buy cheap. Long term? Who knows?

Grrrrr. Shame on the Pirates for giving him away. Well at least the Cubs may have their first real 3rd Baseman since Ron Santo.

My sentiments exactly. Dave Littlefield was supposed to be a genius but this deal made no sense. Perhaps Kevin McClatchy held a gun to his head to force the salaries down. That's the only reason I can see for making the deal. Ramirez was exactly what the Pirates need, a good young power hitting third baseman. Now the Pirates have a washed up never-been in Chris Stynes. He follows a long line of great free agent signings by the Bucs: George Hendrick, Amos Otis, Will Cordero, Derek Bell, etc.

Just goes to show the Pirates are the AAAA team for the big market teams.

So I should pick up some of his stuff if I can get my hands on it or I should sell it now? I know the local card shop has him in the common and minor star boxes. If I can get some bowman chrome rc's and refractors for a few $$ each should I flip them right away or do you guys think there is some potential there?
