Will Mike Williams' Press Pass AUTO remain his best card?

Interesting one brewing here. Williams signed 200 cards for Press Pass that come out tommorrow, but now he isn't eligible for the NFL Draft for another full year. So this card will predate his RC's by a full year, do you think that this card will remain a hot item all year long? When his 2005 true RC's are released, will this card still be one of his "go-to" cards along with SP Authentic, SPX, and Playoff Contenders?

Is PressPass EVER a "go to" card? image

I will definately pick one up, for the simple fact that he was projected to go very high in the draft and it will pre-date his rookie cards by quite some time. I wonder if PressPass will try pulling the remainder of the cards, similar to what companies did with Lavar Arrington a few years back.

My question, and I haven't heard an answer either way, is what happens to their college eligibility now? Once you declare for the draft / sign an agent you lose it, but since they did it in anticipation for the draft are they then still ineligible? Has anyone heard? Suppose I could turn on ESPN and find out. image
Did Clarett sign anything? ie. Press Pass, SA-GE?

reading the beckett review, Clarrett is in one of the products. It looks like Press Pass is the only
one to buy as they have the big names...fitzgerald AND Eli. You get one more auto with sage but
they don't have some of the big names. Im sure some other company will "goof" and put out a
Williams card that they frantically tried to "recall" but didn't get all of them....edge of tennesse
was famous for doing that just to sell wax.

  • This card may predate his rookies, but I don't think a Press Pass or Sage card has ever been deemed a player's real rookie. If Mike Williams is not allowed in until next year, then his 05's will be his true rookie. The Press Pass will probably sell well until his major issues come out, but will level out after that.

If you remember back in 99 one of the Edge products put out a Michael Wiley card because he declared early for the draft and withdrew. His 00 cards were still his true rookies.

  • If it is his only card until next year, it will be a good one to buy and flip until the products in 2005 come out. You could see crazy prices if he gets to go back to USC and has a monster year. Junk brands otherwise.

I have one listed on ebay right now and its at 46$ with 2 days left. That is pretty high for a press pass auto.

In the long run, it won't matter. Receivers out of USC disappoint in the pros. image
