Franklin with die polish marks

I purchased another Franklin for my set. The coin was purchased from Lucy. It is a very attractive coin with die polish marks. I think they give the coin a lot of character. What do you all think of it? Thanks for selling me another great coin, Lucy.image

During the life of the die, a mint employee periodically polishes the die with an abrasive material. The result includes leaving patches of very fine scratches on (small grooves in) the surface of the die. The resulting coin then has a series of very fine raised lines on the surface of the coin formed from the scratches on the die.

I think they can add character and abhorr the current practicce of "market grading" down for polish marks!

I had a beautiful Pilgrim Commem. that had prominent obv. die polish marks. PCGS graded it as MS-61, but it was an easy 63 on technical merit.

I sold it this past January.

Want to see great polish marks? How about the obverse of this Kennedy? What look like scratches on the obverse field, are actually raised, so it means that they were dug into the die when they were being polished.
