Private Message problem

i was screwing around with the custom message board colors on here, and i somehow screwed it up where my PM function isn't showing. the "padlock" icon still appears, but now the "no new message(s)" hyperlink isn't showing. now it's hard for me to notice the little padlock blinking when i have a new message. i reset my customs to the original state, but it still isn't showing. anyone know what the deal is?
