WE are amused by the color... WE are further amused by the fact that you may have picked up a very nice MS66FBL.

WE think that amused is an interesting word to use to describe how we feel about this deal.

I bought it from a grumpy old dealer (surprise) who turned out to be an alright guy but the lamp at his table was broken so I walked
a few feet to another and looked for obvious detractors, didnt see any nor did I see any bell lines but what the hey it was cool toner
so I said Ill take it and he said " If you submit that to the services they would say AT!" and then he went on about collecting for
thirty years and fighting with the services. So I was wondering if it was AT since he volunteered that info and it was the only toner the guy had. Now after a second look there is not much for bell lines on the upper left of the bell crack. I might even search up those Franklin series articles to see what I missedimage
  • Is that machine doubling on the bottom of the 1 in 1957?

Don't worry about this coin being AT as this is typical blue/purple original double mint set toning for P mint coins in 57 and 58. Very nice coin. mike image

I agree with Mikey - this is a typical mint set toned coin, you can tell a mile away. As for the bell lines, if you look at the bottom set, check immediately to the left of the bell crack. That's where they are usually weakest. PCGS only uses the bottom set of bell lines to determine FBL status.

I just can't tell from this image...... the more I study it the more I want to call it AU....

And I'm also not so sure on the toning.... and I have seen my share of original mint sets....

often AU coins will be artificially toned...... I'm suspecting that here... I would have to have this coin in hand....

could just be the image, but I'm seeing a lack of detail on this in the hair area as well as the pass and stow are that I am not
seeing on my 57 I'm holding right now.....

I know that on the Obverse detail is lost due to the master die wearing down through out the 50s, but I'm thinking I am seeing rub....
