Fake? I do not know the cards at all but looking at the "marquee" it seems "skewed". **EDIT** hell the upper one looks like a "3D Model".... sorry.... it does. It looks plastic.
It seems like the front & the back from the first post are not the same card. The back side scan is not as tall as the front side scan. (As if one was a modern size card, and the other a vintage size card.) Was that pic from an auction?
The PSA holder doesn't look kosher. There seems to be a frosted look around the perimiter. Plus the card inside it has too much of a dot matrix pattern. So I will say you cracked the Campy out of the holder and scanned it loose and put in a fake one inside the regular holder. Just a guess although its very hard to make determinations via scans...jay
My advice is to NEVER buy any high-end vintage cards unless they are in a PSA holder. People who sell ungraded high-end vintage might be for real, but more often than not, the cards they peddle are either reprints, or are altered in some way. The reasoning behind this is that if you have a high-end vintage, you will easily get double your money out of the card if it was graded.
That being said, the Campy that is ungraded, I would avoid. It's possible it is real, but also very possible that it is not. I cannot tell for sure from the scan.
You spilled WHAT on my 1952 Topps Mantle?!?!?! Doh!!
Cripes, you scare me ANOT. Other than the fact that the card in the holder you have shown is in no way a 9, due to the corners and centering, you could just about pull this off on Ebay (and I'm sure some jerks have done this in the past). Nice job with replacing the Ex-MT 6 with a MT9

That is why I put the "TEST" across there. O yeah anyone with Photoshop or similar program can "clean" a card. That was done in less then 5 mins and that is to include loading the programand opening the file.
I might post a few other things that can be done to "enhance" photos, and possible ways to detect them.

can you compare the two and tell
of the top one is real or not?

Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!
**EDIT** hell the upper one looks like a "3D Model".... sorry.... it does. It looks plastic.
from the fakes i've seen, you can usually tell by the font of *TOPPS BASEBALL* and the ball stitching on the back.
i'd guess it's real.
Edited for spelling

this was not a quiz or test,
I really am trying to figure out if the
FIRST card pictured in the intial post is real or not.
I included the Second, PSA graded one as a reference.
I do not own either of them... they are BOTH currently
for sale on Ebay.
I just wanted your thoughts on the Risk factor of buying
the Ungraded one...
(the graded one is already at nearly $600 so that one is not an option!)
