Early American Coppers Convention feedback

Dropped in on the EAC convention here in San Diego yesterday. I'm not a copper guy, but we're so starved for coin shows here in the second largest city in California, so I went by.
I think there were about 30 dealers set up. Recognized a couple names, but then again you copper folks may recognize all of them. This was a very low pressure show, and almost every dealer I went by was VERY friendly and wanted to talk, even after realizing I wasn't much on copper. There was a fair amount of "other stuff" available too...more than I expected. Picked up an NGC AU 50 20c piece for the type set and generally had a really nice couple of hours walking around. Some absolutely beautiful large and half cents...and quite a bit of it raw. Plus I finally got to actually see in person a Fugio cent.
For you copper guys and Civil War fans...I'll recommend one guy. His web site is www.butternut.org The Colonel was a hoot and had some great stuff..he's the one I got the 20c from.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show dude.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.

Some interesting things about copper.
the Early American Coppers Club or EAC traces its beginnings to a small ad placed in the November 9th 1966 edition of Coin World Magazine by Herb Silberman. The ad was on page 67.
It was actually a small line at the conclusion of selling some duplicate coppers he put: "If you collect Large Cents, please write. We are trying to start a mail club to trade and discuss this series."
One year later in November of 1967 there were 93 charter members with membership number #1 going to no other than William H. Sheldon. 93 members represented a commemoration of the first cents struck in 1793!
December 28th 1967 a EAC dinner was held at the New York Hilton. DR Sheldon spoke to 18 members attending (no wives).
Once the copper bug bites it can last a lifetime. Today, EAC has thousands of members and has its own publication and convention. Kind of cool I think.
