I don't know if it was a common practice, but some proof dies were definitely used for business strikes as well. A good example is 1878 8TF VAM-14.8 which has both proof strikes and business strikes known.

I think the proof dies were often used for the business strikes after the proof strikes were done. I have a 1898 DMPL Morgan that I'm rather sure came from proof dies. The 1921 Zerbe proof dies were also used to make business strikes.

VAM 14.3 and VAM 14.8 were in 1878 only. Here's a VAM14.3, looks a LOT like a proof, but it's a business strike.

To fully answer your question; after 1878 none are known to be reused, except for the 1921 Zerbe which some don't
consider a proof coin at all.
