<< <i>That 1909 Indian looks great! >>
It is AWESOME ! It looks like it was minted yesterday. My crappy pics make it look worse than it does in hand.
That 1944-S Merc is flawless as well. Absolutely beautiful. Even the edges feel "sharp" like it was just pressed.
<< <i>Nice coins. Is the quarter cleaned? Looks like some diagonal lines all goin about the same driection on the obv. >>
I haven't done anything to it but more than likely someone has rubbed it sometime in its life. It has a few "problems", but i didn't have one, and thought it looked nice enough for my meager collection It's the oldest coin i own.
<< <i> hate to tell you this but the indian cent and Mercury's have been cleaned- the quarter looks fine though. I hope you don't take this as an insult but I think the indian cent is a perfect example of a whizzed coin. mike >>
The 44 Merc most likely is "whizzed". The Indian Cent i doubt is "worked on". Under a 10X loop the fine details are strikingly sharp.
My Digital picture skills suck at the best. My Kodak DC280 i have here at home is at least 5 yrs old and doesn't have a macro setting for close-up shots. I use a 10X eye piece loop in front of the lens and have to focus manually by moving closer or further away from the object. Then if i can not shake or move while it decides to finally snap the pic, it might come out clear. It's a crap shoot at best but i give it my all and do the best i can. I would love to get one of the Olympus C-5050 but that's not do-able right now.
The good news in all of this is the majority of the coins i've posted pictures of today didn't cost me a cent. A relative sent them to me.
