Anyone know if gold coins qualify for the quarterly freebie?

I'm preparing a submission to ANACS and want to know if I should send along an Indian quarter eagle, but if I can send it to PCGS instead for a free grading, I'd rather do that. Anyone know if gold coins qualify for the "obsolote series" quarterly freebie or not?

Best to call and ask. 1-(800) 447-8848

They should be because you can get a gold coin graded under regular service.
I asked for a complete list in the Q&A section but no ones been home.
  • I called, and they (PGCS) said it was only for 'No longer circulated coins with obsolete denominations (no longer used)...

gold not included if the value still circulates...

  • If the value still circulates... it is not obsolete, regardless of the metals used.

At least that is what I heard...

BTW...supposedly, the next free submission will fous on 'California'...

If anyone has more details, let me know!!

  • I just called and was told it included any coin denomination that is no longer circulating, and was explicitly told this includes "$2 1/2, $3, $5, $10, and $20."

In any case, I was planning on sending in a quarter eagle, so it sounds like that's definitely eligible...
  • Maybe I should call again?

    WACoinGuy:

I was explicitly told -- after I asked -- that it does NOT include any gold denomination whatsoever.

What they told me was 1/2¢, 2¢ and 3¢ only.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • Good Afternoon Everyone.

    You can submit the 2 1/2, 3, 4, 5 10 & 20 denomination as the quarterly special.
The coin must be on its own submission form and have its own shipping fees.

    Do 1/2 dimes count?
  • Since I am new, what is the proper way of submitting under the 'Free Quarterly Submissions"?

The coin must be on its own submission form and have its own shipping fees.... If this is the case, would my submission be one, and only one coin? How do I designate that this should be a "Free Quarterly Submission?..

Any and all help will be appreciated, thanks all

Write free coin for quarter in the other section.
Yes one coin only on the submission.
You need to be a gold level or higher member.
  • Placid is correct!

I guess you must have noticed that it arrived only four days ago. image

Edited to add: Actually, you only know where my business is located. Even the IRS doesn't know where I live. image
