  • if its $100 bucks a pack, theres about a 127% chance youll get hosed
  • Overpriced crap. I will pull a Jason Terry auto that would net me $1.50 at auction so there is no way I'd buy this junk. Only way to make money is pay the big bucks and buy a case or two and open boxes until you hit a Lebron. Once you do...list all the rest of the boxes. But that's if you have $$$ to play around with.

I do believe it is around 500 bucks for a case and thats 4 packs. UD makes its killing on these
because for every Lebron autos they put out there are 200 Barbosa's or some Russian player.
I would love to open some of this, but why? I have probably bought about 500 bucks in UD
basketball this year (which is a light year for me), and have yet to get a card that booked
more than 40 bucks. At least in football and baseball there are more good players, I mean
basketball is about a few guys only to make your money back..Kobe, Carmello, Lebron, MJ.

those are bad odds, Ultimate......stay away....would you believe that 97.6% of the cards you oull
from these won't net you your money back.....those are long odds!

I agree with those comments. I thought for a minute about buying a case of this (last week I was quoted $2150 a case presell), but I quickly thought better of it. After my bad experiences with SP Authentic, and a few of those SP Sig tins, I can only imagine the great pulls I would get -

Zaza Pachulia (?) - Auto Patch!

    Or

Ndidu Ebi (??) - Auto Jersey Patch!

    Not a chance, UD.

  • too pricey

lebron/carmelo/mj are pretty much the only autos that are worth any real $ (i.e., over $20 on ebay)

there are far too many 'misses' out there- pachula, cabakarpa, zoran plaininic (whom i have pulled out of EVERY single UD box this year), etc.
  • On the same note, any of you gonna plunk down $$ for UD Exquisite?

I'll be a sucker and probably cough up the $$$ for 2 packs of Ult Coll and 1 tin of Exq. I actually got kinda lucky with SP GU Patch. Pulled a Ted Williams 3 clr #6/10. SOld on ebay last night for $555.55. But then in the next tin I got a Wilie Stargell patch that closed at $23. I guess Willie doesn't get any hobby love. image

Like anything, it's going to be hit or miss. UD has done a pretty good job with the ultra high product this year... well except for my luck with SP Sig. Gooden, Diaw x2, Lampe, McDyess. I did get a Ewing sp auto. But that was the extreme highlight out of 7 tins. I figure it's worth checking one tin. Though at 5 bills I'll have buy it from the wholesaler. I think he's getting about $385 for a tin.

Hit or miss i sold my case i got in out before its release didnt bother getting any for myself as its to high for a gamble. id rather pay that kind of money towards home improvements. But its amazing how mant people want this product and the exquisite.
  • I think it's going to be the best product ever, you should all bid high money on the case I have on ebay right now!

Alright, seriously, as we all know every product is a gamble, but if you check online there is some amazing stuff out of this product. Whether you're sick of the LeBron-Carmelo hype or not you should be able to realize that this is perhaps one of the best drafts ever and you will be lucky to see a rookie class like this every 20 to 30 years (the last was the 84 draft). With that said, if you're going to gamble on something and have a little fun, this is it.

By the way, have you guys seen the display with the picture of the 1/1 LeBron AUTO NBA Logoman? That card looks sweet and I would be very surprised if it didn't get at least $15,000 and I would guess will probably get around $20,000. If you guys want a scan of it I can put it up.

Okay, now I'm serious, bid up my case, it ends Wednesday!

Does it seem like the price has come down a bit on this? I wonder if people are just getting fed up with UD's poor collation on their high end products. It would be nice, while not getting a Lebron, Carmelo, MJ or Kobe in every pack, that you at least receive something of value in each box. Not much to ask, but it doesn't always happen.

  • anyone else care to share their thoughts?

    thanks

  • I'll be happy to share mine when I receive my case on Wed. If I pull good cards I'll give great reviews; if I pull lousy cards I'll bash this mutha like there's no tomorrow.

You only got one rookie in two packs? That means only 2 per $500 box...rough stuff. With all of the bad rookies you could pull, the odds are clearly against you in this product.

This has got to be a horrible break. But, like Jason said we should all give some serious thought to buying some of this years basketball product and stowing it away. It's a fantastic RC class, after all, and who knows what will happen? Can you imagine if LeBron (or Carmelo) defects to the Knicks after three years and brings them a championship? The prices on his stuff will soar through the ceiling. If Darko or Dwayne Wade pan out, it could be even better.

There is a seller on the bay right now who has a lebron auto rc #/250, a lebron Ultimate Signatures and a Bosh RC Auto and David West rc auto all out of ultimate collection. If that was his 4 pack box I bet he was pretty happy!

In response to BooPotts, I think he's right. I just hope all the stuff I ripped pans out. lets see... Ndudi Ebi, David West, Zoran Planinininininnc oh yeah, and Brian Cook. I think I pulled about 20 of each of their auto's. Between Bowman Chrome, SPx, SPA, SP Sig and Topps Chrome. Oh and Kapono, god I got a lot of him too... I did get a few Peja auto's though, and one LeBron and 3 Melo sigs. I guess I can't complaing TOO much... Or can I? image

LOL Kapono.....he is the ultimate tease....you pull pack the cards slowly, you know the card in the middle
    is a rookie....you see that it is a cavs....AHHHHHHHHHH Lebron....DOH white guy!

Weren't people fired up about Ming and Amare last year? I remember people calling Elton Brand
the next MJ......will Lebron still be hot in a few months? I can't remember the last basketball
card that was hot two straight years.

Here is a post on a another grading boards site about Ult Coll. Some really nice scans just for reference. if anyone is interested.
