Wish me luck, hoping to have 1st PSA 10 Callahans

Well they are listed, packed, scanned and ready to go. My first submission. I feel the Gabby, Dickey (bad scan), and Bender SHOULD be 10's. The others I will see where the chips fall:

the DiMaggio looks like it might have a stain on the upper-right border
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

grrrrr they are packed..... I can tell you they looked to never have been handled when I got them. They were still in their little yellow box. Sadly the box (and a few cards - strangely I had doubles of) got an "ink" blotch on them. Small corner wear on some of them and centering are their only "problems". The DiMag and a few others are "just darker" and I cant explain why.

OK I got notification they were received. So does this begin the 5 Day timer? (my "free" 6 Submissions) Giddy as school girl, but thinking like an ugly chick so the let down wont be as bad as the suprise is good!

  • If you get too many high grades on these you might feel the wrath of Zardoz! Dun-Dun-Dun-Dunnnnnnnn!

Im afraid to ask but curiosity has gotten the better of me.

Who or What is a Zardoz? Wasnt that a "wacky" flick with Sean Connery sporting a pony tail?

Wow. Talk about a MAJOR let down. Gabby was rated the best at an 8.

    Wow

O well glad the cards and the grading was free. Guess I have a lot to learn when "eye" balling a card. I dont know though Gabby getting a better grade......

    **EDIT**
Do they tell you why BTW? Or do you just guess with the criteria given?

You just guess with the criteria given.
  • I bet if you were a bigger dealer that these would have been higher grades. Im certain of it. What a joke. Those are all nice enough to be 8's. The grading industry is a crock.

See I could tell the DiMag was not going to get a good grade. That is the reason I sent it. But the Bender was nice, bright and sharp yet got a 7. One up from the DiMag. I find that very hard to believe.

Forgetting about my grades, they cant be, especially since people have sent cards back, and gotten them regraded at a different level. And as you know the difference between an 8, 9 and 10 are sometimes astronomical when it comes to "money".

I am pretty shocked myself. I am finally expecting my Chandler, Cy Young, and Babe Ruth back on Friday, or Monday the latest. It doesn't look too good for me now that I saw yours. It looks like some of your cards had yellowing compared to the Dickey. Maybe that hurts the cards. But then again, you got an 8 on the Gabby that looks to be yellowed. They are all well centered.

Here is what I expect now:

    Ruth - 5
    Cy Young - 6
    Chandler - 6

That sucks. I do believe that bulk submitters get better grades sometimes. I am at alot of shows, and I see the same guys always walking up to the PSA booth joking around with the PSA people and referring to them on a first name basis. It's just too fishy. Maybe just one grade here or there, but I am sure some of the graders recognize the names and take care of them. Just my opinion.

You didn't really expect good grades from one of your first submissions, let alone the "FREE" ones? That wouldn't be possible.

Edited to say that the LYONS card was the whitest one of the bunch compared to the rest. Not the Dickey.
7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

Actually I would expect better grades from anyones free sub. What better way to bring back customers. Not that I would wnat them to change their standards. Which, from your statement and others, appear to be "rubbery" at best.
