Guess the grade - 1802 half dollar (GRADE REVEALED)

We havn't had a guess-the-grade for a Draped bust half dollar recently - so here's one...




It's in an NGC-40 holder...

Kind of tough photo to judge - the contrast did not show up well. Yes, not really well struck - a trait of most 1802's. Other than that, a nice original-looking coin with no problems. Perhaps that's what bumped it into the 40 grade... I agree it is closer to 35 as far as wear goes...

Reverse strike looks weak to me... but of course I know nothing about the series... VG8? Best guess...

Nice coin...I'd say VG-8 also... and I, too, have little expertise on these.

Remember, it is an open collar struck coin. My guess is VF-35. Nice coin. Looks original.

Ooh. Tough one for me. My lone bust half (an 1805) is VF 30, though the obverse looks better on this one and the reverse is not as sharp as mine.

What a terrific coin! I like it and this is one that I would say should make EF40 and because of originality, I would think EF45 is possible. There is alittle weakness in the strike which is not uncommon.

To me this looks like a strong fine to very fine, I would give it a f15. Nice coin. I'd be proud to own that one.

i nailed that 1 too before looking at the grades. agree w/ xf-40, but i was gonna say that due to the wacky digi-pic, can't tell the surface quality.
