Another question for a silver eagle collector

I have a Silver Eagle that has been slabbed as a 2000-W MS70

There is not a " w " on the eagle anywhere and I can't find anything on a eagle being minted in West Point that year.

Anybody have any info?

Thanks,
Randy

Perhaps the "W" stands for white (untoned), what company slab is it? A had a washington one time with the W designation and thats all I could figure. Many here know about things like this and can confirm.image

PR SAE 2000 is P mint. Not sure what W means.

I believe the 2000 coin and currency sets had the ASE with no mintmark but they were actually struck at the West Point mint. The W denotes the ASE came from the C and C set otherwise it is indistinguishible from all the others struck that year.

    Bajjerfan is 100% correct.
The thing is that you had to have it from the C&C set from ICG or better to be sure of the attribution.
ACG was noted for claiming some were "W" from C&C sets when they weren't.

I had 2 (ICG) and sold one. It isn't worth a HUGE premium, to me, but it is nice.
I also have 2 raw C&C sets (not cut up).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

So, am I reading this correct....that the coin and currency set eagles do not have a "w" mint mark?

Yes some of the services slabbed the C&C millennium set SAE's as 2000-W even though they had no mintmark because they were struck at West Point and because they came out the sets you "knew" they were West Point issues. I always thought it was a little silly because if you check the Mints Annual Report you will find that ALL of the non-proof 2000 SAE's were struck in West Point, not just the ones used in the Millennium sets. So ALL 2000 business strike quality Silver eagles are actually 2000-W.
