I know it stinks to see a guy like this win an auction for a perfectly nice card, but at $470, even if this gets a PRO 10, I don't think he'll even make his money back. Unfortunately, this card will be lost to the hobby forever most likely though. That really stinks.

I think Con40 is right...even a PRO "10" probably won't bring him that money back (hopefully). Serves him right.

Forgetting one thing. This "Doctor" might be operating to produce a PSA 8 or 9. Bookmark this auction and watch this guy's listings in the next few months.

That's a good point and a very frightening possibility... that would justify the $470 investment.

Maybe, (Hopefully) he bought it for his personal collection?
    Good for you.
  • So what is the deal with this dude? Does he purchase med-upper PSA cards, pop 'em out, doctor 'em up, and try to get a PRO 10 out of them or something?
You spilled WHAT on my 1952 Topps Mantle?!?!?! Doh!!

Interesting turn of events! Let's see if he can get his money back... as far as which bed all these snakes lie in, and who knows/is/poses as who, it's all very unseemly... I think of it as if they are a bunch of cheap-suited, loud-mouthed, halitosis-plagued salesman trying to make lemons look like lemonade... I just stay away!

OT: I'm glad a guy like DSL is getting into nice vintage now... he has a good rep from all accounts and is just one example of an alternative to dealing with those scum. Others guys I like are Jay at Cavalcade of Sports, Brian Drent at Mile High, Gwo Shih, and Shoeless Joe... I have had nothing but good experiences with all.

Is this SLABBED guy a doctor? I just purchased a 33 cfard lot of 1950 Callahan cards off him the other day. He does offer a 7 day return policy on any ungraded cards.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?
