Washington Peeps - What is the value on a 1954P in MS66?

And does anyone have a pic of one?

Thanks!

  • Sean - You think it would go 66 with that rub mark on the face?

Can't really tell what the "stuff" on his face is but at first glance, other than for that ii has

the "look" of a 67. Whatever that is on his face, a break in luster or what have you, will be

    a factor!

The pic stinks, and the coin has been out of my hands for close to a month, but the coin definitely didn't have any rub or luster breaks. I'm a newbie when it comes to submitting coins, and I'm trying to be extremely picky, so I wouldn't have sent that one for grading if the mark on the cheek were so obvious in the hand. I think the camera saw either a streak of toning, or an untoned bit caught in some glare.

I think the rub on the cheek will keep that one out of a 66 holder.

I once bought (and returned) 44-s and 47-d pcgs ms66 quarters with that darkish tone/rub whatever you call it on the high points.

The 1954-P takes one heck of a price jump in MS67.

A friend an I went in on an original roll together and here are two of the quarters I pulled out of the roll. The chatter you see behind the head on the second one is die polish - how do you guys think they look?

  • Sorry, the 54 shown is no better than a 64 at best.

I just sold this 54 PDS NGC set LINK. Not much difference between the 64 coin and the 66. I was a little dissapointed that they did not bring muchimage. mike

Don't worry about the mark on his cheek there, it is the rare "Crying Washington" variety.

The only crying might be if it comes back in an AU58 holder......wait, where's Marty?

If my coin comes back anything less than a 65 I'll give it away here in the forum. I'm that confident I'm right, and it will be worth that little if I'm wrong. image
