PSA Card Registration Question(s)??

I have question for you guy's.
I recently won an ebay auction for a star 1960's football card that was graded PSA 8 from a large volumn ebay dealer.
In the auction the card was pictured and it looked just fine on my computer screen.
So I payed the dealer and it showed up a couple days later.
When I pulled the card out .........I could not believe my eyes.
This PSA 8 star card was so out of focus, poor registration that it was like I had double vision!!
How PSA could grade a card PSA 8 that had that poor of focus is absolutely mind numbing.
The funny thing is for some reason out of focus cards do not show up as such over the computer, or
if they do, the severity is minimalized drastically.
Has anyone else ever experienced this problem??
Bigger question, does the dealer have an ethical responsibility to write in his discription that the card is out of registration, when it is a severe case.........even though the card is graded PSA 8 with NQ??
One more question, why isn't registration a qualifier??
Why does PSA pay no attention what so ever to this major flaw??
There is no way in GOD GREEN EARTH that this card should have been in a PSA 8 slab IMHO.

Should the seller disclose the card as out of registration? That is a tougher question. He may just say he sold the card as a PSA 8 and that it was sent it to you, therefore he lived up to part of the transaction. I do agree a honest ethical seller should mention that the card has poor registration especially if his scan is poor, but not everyone feels that way.
I would recommend e-mailing the seller and tell him that you did not know that the card was 'out of registration' and you could not tell by the scan. If he values his customers he might be willing to offer a refund.

was that a '62 topps fb card from DSL by any chance?
No it wasn't a 62 Topps Football........from DSL, but I am getting ready to bid on a few cards from DSL should I be concerned
about something??
I don't really want to mention who the dealer is.
I did contact the seller and he basically put it like this: he mentioned that he did nothing wrong and would grant a refund in this instance only, but if he did I would be banded from bidding on any of his future auctions.
How do you like those apples??
I had done some business with him in the past also, and never had had a problem.
Oh well...........needless to say the card went back.

I bought the holder not the card (indulging myself in the fun of making an all 8 registry set).
I get psa 7's
they get psa 8's.......go figure.
I'll put a bunch of these to the "Pepsi challenge" any day.
some are just rediculous, with mis-cut backs, 15/85 centering, etc...
I have also bought some very nice psa 8's from them, and despite the fact that they will never respond to an e-mail, I think they are solid..........lucky, but solid. I doubt they would accept a return on a graded card.
that's my experience, I wish it wasn't, but it is.
hopefully others have better luck.
Also i have returned 2 cards to dsl before was a no question asked return. I sent them back to them with my next payment on a order and per shane just took the $ off of that order. Now i have bought a ton of cards off them i do feel they get a break on grades now and then but im not so sure its because they give psa so much buiss or just because with there shier # of cards sent in your bound to get sliders both ways. But either way dsl is 1 of the best dealers going in my opinion.
The 1963 Topps football set is notorious for having focus / registration issues.
One problem the graders have is that a card can look okay when viewed all by itself.
It's only when you compare it to a sharper card that you notice the defect :
Also, I don't point out the defects of a graded card when I auction it off.
By the same token, I don't proclaim cards to be "highend for the grade".
I simply provide a large scan, and answer all bidder's questions.
What one collector may regard as a defect, may not bother another collector in the least ...
