I want to see a coin seller/dealer thank a coin buyer publicly

You often read on here about someone thanking this or that dealer/seller on coin(s) he/she purchased. But, I cannot recall a seller come on and say, " Thank you Joe, for buying my coins ". After all, if there were no buyers, then sellers/dealers would be out of business, right?
So, what do you say, dealers?imageimage

The buyer has the right to privacy and they should be the only ones to break it unless requested. So I now want all sellers who have sold me coins to personally thank me for them.image

I thank my customers all the time for doing business with me, or even giving me the opportunity to do business.

If you read my sig line, you'll understand my thoughts on the necessity of buying coins.

I think it would be inappropriate for a seller to publicly thanking a buyer in this forum.

    1. It is up to the buyer to decide whether the results of a private transaction should be divulged publicly. I would be annoyed if a seller announced a sale to me in public.

    2. It could be viewed as grandstanding by a large number of board members if a seller thanked a buyer and likely result in the seller being flamed for one thing or another.

    3. I think it is unnecessary. Sellers usually thank me at the point of purchase, I thank them, and that's that. As a buyer, I often (but not always) publicly thank a seller as a promotional pitch for the seller and to show a new coin to my collecting friends here. Thanking the seller allows any members or lurkers to learn where to get such a coin, if interested.

An interesting story apropos to RYK's comments.

When I was in college, I worked part-time for a local jeweler. He used to send thank-you notes to his customers, until one day he got a call from an angry wife, wanting to know why the hell her husband had spent so much money on jewelry, and she hadn't seen any of it!!!!

    D'oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    We ARE watching you.

This is a thank you note to my good friend and customer Bob C:

    Bob -

Thank you for buying the raw AU 1796 small eagle dollar last week. When I bought it, I didn't notice that it had been mounted at 12 o'clock. I thought I was buried for life. When you walked up to the table and explained that you didn't know anything about coins but wanted to put something special away for your retirement, I knew that my prayers had been answered. You paid me a 30% profit and the check even cleared. I am tremendously appreciative for your business and hope to do much more in the future. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Andy Lustig

I bought a suit at Nordstrom in Minneapolis about 7 years ago and I still get mail from the salesman from time to time warning me of upcoming sales.

Oh, and I should add: All you dealers who didn't thank me today for buying things (and you know who you are) are in deep trouble.image
