Is this die polishing???

Does this look like die polish marks to you guys???

Die polish would normally be on the low areas, which would be the high point of the die, like the field areas around the Indian. This looks like planchet striations which were not struck out completely.

I agree completely with Rick...die scratches and polish marks are usually on the fields, not the devices.

Yep, incomplete strike and it's original planchet texture most likely.

Original planchet surface marks = planchet striations. Caused by the stretching of the ingot during the rolling process, and the surface condition of the rollers.

I love it when I learn something new!!

I already knew this was a weak strike, so planchet striations makes a lot of sense. I guess it goes along with the planchet flaws at the 4 o'clock position, and on the indian's cheek.
