I've never sent coins in for grading but have recently acquired 20-30 that I would like to have graded.I really hav'ent the patience to wait on PCGS.NGC just has too many MS70s on late night TV.So I'm thinking of going with ANACS.They are pretty cheap and have a much quicker turnaround time. Will their grades be pretty accurate?

ANACS grades correctly in my opinion, but like any other service, a mistake may happen here or there.

I have crossed a handful of silver dollars to PCGS and all graded the same, or even a point higher than ANACS.

Good product. No body bags. Opinions at shows. Courteous service.
I have a feeling that, if they were to make their holder about the size of PCGS/NGC, more people will go to them. Just my guess.

a problem. For the moment, I think their grading is tighter than NGC. DMPL standards appear to be tougher as well, as a
cracked coin out of an ANACS DMPL holder did not even PL in my last submission.
For $15, using the 5 day, 5 coin express service is a super bargin. The $10 special, 10 coin, 10 day is even better;
but it's not for Moderns.
ANACS appears determined to become more accepted in the marketplace, but they need to drop those cheap looking holders first.

Anybody know what specials they have traditionally offered at the shows?
I see they offer FREE grading opinions at the shows, but I also want the encapsulation service as well.
Edited to add:The 10,10,10 special ends in six days.Better hurry!

The fastest they'd have is one day--they take submissions and fly them to/from Ohio, having them graded with a one-day turnaround. They never bring slabbing equipment with them, as far as I know.

I've sent a considerable number of coins to ANACS the past 6 months.
Have been very pleased.
No problems.
Their grades have tightened, in my view.
In fact, I mentioned on here awhile ago that with one recent ANACS submission, I thought PCGS would have graded higher overall on that particular submission.
I like the smaller size holder.

<< <i>Must you pre-purchase an ANACS submission kit to submit coins? >>
Nope...you can use your own materials as long as you meet ANACS criteria, which is pretty much the same as NGC/PCGS
<< <i>PCGS likes ANACS coins >>
Russ, please elaborate.I take it you cracked some ANACS,submitted to PCGS,and recieved favorable results?
You're now official, Bubba 4/24/04
Yes, I've had ANACS coins cross at PCGS over the last 10 years, but it's been the exception rather than the rule. The best luck I've had has been with MS61-62-63, and XF45. The worst luck I've had has been with MS65 and up (zero) and VF-anything (zero).
I really prefer their smaller holders, I wish that NCG & PCGS had a smaller holder like ANACS.

Never had any problems with them, unlike, ahem, well, you know.

<< <i>rampage, that dollar deal is one of the ones I'm considering.Do you know if they'll take modern commem dollars with that deal or do thay have to be Peace and Morgans? >>
They do take modern commem dollars under this special. Any dollars, as long as they're silver .
Also, about 95 percent of my error coin collection that is slabbed is slabbed by ANACS. That percent will go up just a hair when I get this recent batch of 34 coins back.

About a dozen and counting, all grading at or higher than the ANACS grade. They tend to be pretty conservative in what I collect; early date Kennedy Halves, 1964 to 1970.

Five errors/VAMS four regulars and a 97P Botanical gardens.I think all will grade 55-63 except one VAM Morgan may go 64-65 and the BG may go 69.I'll know in approx 12 days.
Thank you'all for your input !

Then again, people have had similar experiences with each of the major services so this is not an "ANACS-only" phenomenon. All this goes to show is that you should "buy the coin, not the slab."
