Need Eagle eye previous PSA submitters :) LG Pic

OK Im slowly getting up enough nerve to make my first 6 free submission to PSA. I realize scans may be "hard" to gauge a card, but hey Im goin got ask anyway. Both were fresh pack pulls inserting into a penny sleeve and TL. Opinions please. Thanks.

    Sosa's a 9, Bonds an 8 and if I'm wrong I'll deny I ever said it. image

Seriously my eye is probably not that good but Bonds is not real well centered top to bottom and I see some print problems top 1/3 left side (unless it's the scan?)

Thanks. I rescanned cleaning the glass (wow it gets dirty) and removed from TLs. Probably wont submit them but I really (now I do) did not see the top to bottom centering on Bonds,

I wouldn't submit either of them- especially the Bonds. The Sosa looks fairly clean, but the top right corner looks a little noisy.

You can pick up the Sosa in PSA 9 for around the cost of grading the card. Unless you think it is a 10, I don't think it is worth submitting.

I agree. Not worth sending in. It's borderline 8-9 for the Sosa. That whole right edge is tweeked with chipping which affects the surface. It's always that right edge. Went thru 2 cases, and they're all like that. That's just the front. If the back of the card has chipping on the upper and bottom blue area, then it's best just to give it to some kid.

The bonds is an 8 at best.

  • I would guess Sosa would get a 8 and the Bonds a 7. There is a slight chance of each getting 1 grade higher.

Sosa looks like a 7 to me with the upper right edge. Bonds may be an eight - hard to tell if the corners are worn or soft from the cello wrap
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I agree about the Sosa. They would kill that card due to the chipping on the right upper section. 7, or 8 at best. The Bonds is o/c top to bottom, and I see some top border wear on that one too. Don't waste your time submitting these cards.

  • I'd say 90 Sosa PSA 8 (yes there is edge chipping but I have seen worse on 71 Topps PSA 8's) and the 87 Donruss Bonds PSA 7. I doubt either would be worth much on Ebay in these conditions, save your money and don't submit them.

destroy the cards (jk) and go to your closet and begin to cry!! (not kidding about that though) these would have been 2 cards worth submitting about 3-5 yr ago for a modest 5 dollar profit if they pulled 8's...now the market is supersaturated ...its not worth it. Keep them in penny sleeve/toploader and buy someone elses mistakes on ebay that they submitted. you can go to the closet now

Can you even compare what a 1971 topps would get with those 2 cards?
    Good for you.
  • Judging by my last submission's...those would both be 7's. I turned in several cards that I thought were possible 10's & the highest grade I got was a 9. PSA is pretty tough.
  • Both 7's with Sosa possibly an 8, but I doubt it. The corners on Bonds aren't even square (upper left may have a ding) and that centering is bad news.
