This is a shame

I was really looking forward towards making my 1975 Topps Set in PSA 8 and above.
Had well over 150 cards and I only started several weeks ago.

However, given the fact that messages are removed from these boards becuase they relate to some concerns that PSA customers have, I am going to give up making this set. I just don't see why I should pay a premium for these cards graded by a company that doesn't allow its customers to voice concerns. While I feel that PSA is still one of the best grading companies to turn to, stuff like this doesn't make collecting fun- and not being a dealer, but just your average guy, 'fun' is the only reason I collect cards.

Sadly, I'm sure that this thread too will soon disappear.
So to all out there, it was fun while it lasted, and KingKellog- thanks for getting me started with those first 8 cards.

I'm out like charlie hustle

That doesn't seem like a wise decision.
  • I think the unwise decision was getting started in the beginning.

Thank you for the kind words.
  • jonnyrock- you shouldn't take it personally. PSA pays to maintain these boards. right or wrong you really can't fault them for not wanting to pay for bad publicity....that's what the SGC boards are for.
nevertheless, these boards are an invaluable asset to any graded set builder and they are free.

  • highend,
    I understand that.
But for people new to these boards (like myself), this place served as a measuring stick of the quality of the company- I learned about how things work by reading your posts.
I expected to hear bad things and good things. I heard mostly good, which is why I started with PSA. I knew about some of the issues, but thought that the pros outweighed the cons.
However, when I found that any thread that discusses a concern one might about PSA is removed, I realized I had made a mistake. All companies make mistakes, are worried about the bottom line, and do what is in their best interest. When I heard that PSA had been like all companies, I wasn't at all concerned.
However, a line is always drawn somewhere, and for me removing fair threads so that others can't read them is dishonest!

    I agree 100%

The President of PSA is the one who said he would get back with us about the Rose situation.

Is it to much for us to ask him to do as he promised, without having the thread removed?

    johnnyrock...

    Thanks for the kind words...

This board is informative, uplifting, and always controversial....

I encourage you to stick around and see what happens to the Registry and to this board. 150 cards is a very nice start to a beautiful '75 set. It still can be completed with a ton of fun..if you MAKE it fun...

Please don't take "every" word here to be the gospel...

The choice is always yours...I'll stand with you as a good friend, whatever you decide...

    Best

    CHEERS!!
  • In the end, we have to realize that this is a hobby. Whatever it takes to make it fun, go with it.

I've had a few 'bad' experiences with PSA as well as with a few 'bad' sellers/buyers/traders. In the end, I need to look out for what's best for me. As far as buying on the internet (eBay), getting PSA graded cards is the way to go for my sets vs. going the raw route - both financially speaking and for my own comfort and security. Reselling my cards is also easier using PSA because it's still sought after by a larger population than competing companies (IMHO at this point in time).

    Good luck!

I completely understand that you're disappointed about Joe not coming
on here and setting the record straight, but I don't think you should
be suprised the thread was pulled. Sure, many good points were expressed
in the thread, but it also contained a link to another board's thread
with a lot of PSA bashing (where not everything being said is necessarily
true - and that's being kind!). In reality, most of the "gripe" posts
don't get pulled, so we're actually lucky to have this forum to voice our
complaints. For example, see the post on the cards forum by JESSEJAMES
regarding his bad experience with ticket grading. He didn't bash PSA,
but he voiced his complaints. The thread is still up.

I appreciate your sentiment, but I don't think it's worth ending your set over. Take issue with the people in charge, not the product. They won't be around forever, while the product will.

Cleveland is going to be mighty hot in July...
