Authentication - Raw Submissions to PSA

Well, I've been burned twice now.

Bought two raw cards on ebay and received them back fast from people with good ebay percentages so of course I gave them positive feedback.

Now the catch.

I sent these cards to PSA Authentication - one was a 1933 Goudey Charlie Gehringer and the other was a 1941 Double Play Hemsley/Harder card.

Both came back either altered or authentication was questioned.

Since it takes usually more than the 30 days with turnaround to get cards to PSA and get them back, you might upset an ebayer by not leaving feedback, since you can't after 30 days.

Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this situation.

    Dale;

    Sorry to hear you got burned, but FYI, you have 90 days to leave feedback on eBay! Next time, make them wait it out!
  • I have the same situation, but I've blown off dealing with it. About 2 years ago, I bought a beautiful '64 Rose off of eBay with a BIN of $180, from a seller with tons of raw cards (nothing graded) for sale and good feedback ... rejected for evidence of trimming by both PSA and BVG. Now it just sits in my closet as I have no desire to pass the screwing on to some other unsuspecting bidder, but it also sucks knowing I blew $180 on a trimmed card (incidentally the last raw vintage card of value I've bought off of eBay). Even selling it with a big caveat about it being trimmed wouldn't help, because then I'd know I probably just sold the card to a PRO "dealer" who will rip off someone else even worse. And since I don't believe in holding feedback hostage, I was screwed in terms of demanding a refund from the seller ...

    I'll probably just end up keeping it as a reminder of the first and only time I was dumb enough to trust a raw dealer on eBay ...
