The amazing part is that the seller made absolutely no effort to deceive and very openly called it a "toy" with good photos - and it still bid to $100.

You can sell ANYTHING on Ebay.

  • Anything to fill the whole. Not that it would fit anyways.

  • I see it a little differently. The seller made NO effort to describe it as anything other than a 1877 IHC.

No where in his title or description does it say "Toy" or "Copy" or anything like that.

Obviously the bidders don't know what a true IHC looks like or how big it is.

This one is obviously trying to deceive un-informed new collectors, and has done so to the tune of a hundred bucks !!!

I don't see much humor in that...................... image
  • I'm glad I wasn't the buyer........

Man, I'm going to get rich when I list this one:

    image

It's about 50 times as big as the one in that auction. I hope tinybubbles comes along. image

I guess they didn't called it a "toy" did they...

Well, anyone who thinks a real Indian penny is the size of a pin head deserves to be screwed.

Something doesn't look right at the bids (or I'm missing something which is highly possible). One person puts in three bids, $5, $10, and the highest is $20, all in a row. The person who won bid twice AFTER the first guy: once for $25 and the second for $100.

If the second highest bidder bid $20, shouldn't the winning bid be just above $20 and not $100?

Russ: when you list yours, just call it the "Big Kahuna" penny, and reserve it at-say-$500. You'll be in the clover in no time. image
