Need Help.....Now

What do you think of the condition and price of the 1928 Irish Penny.

Only a couple of hours before it ends.

Do you think it has been cleaned?

1928 Irish Penny UNC

Thanks,
Larry

Larry I have a feeling their image is washed out and would look more like this in the proper light.

  • From the images, it is hard to tell about cleaning. The color is also hard to judge since they are washed out.

I have purchased several items from Aspencoins, and never had any problems from them.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
I like Ikes!! But I especially like Viking Ships, Swedish Plate Money, and all coins Scandinavian.

  • I think the top of the harp looks too warn down to be UNC. I would say XF, and therefore overpriced.

    IMHO, Save your money.

  • Bill, Bob and John:

Thanks for your help. Based on John's opinion, I think I will pass.

    Thanks again,

  • The last item I purchased from Aspen indeed looked pretty grainy from the image, but I think their imaging just sucks.

    My quick scan:

Collector of Fractional Gold; gold tokens from Canada, California, Alaska & other states; gold so-called dollars, and other oddball stuff.
  • In this case I think the price difference between a $7 XF and a $30 UNC could be enough to cause a seller to call the coin UNC. Looking at the scan, which is all you have to go on, I really doubt that ANACS is going to give that coin a MS60 or higher.

Anyway, why risk buying a coin with a cr@ppy scan and hope for the best when you could wait for a coin you could be more comfortable with.

Their picture quality is not very good for one and it makes the images looked washed out. That Pingin is not UNC and I would agree with John in saying XF at best and would not grade MS60. Not only is there wear on the top of the harp but also on the hen's feathers to the top. The number "8" in 1928 also looks flatten and I am most likely late submitting to this threadimage
  • eureka, John and MSD61 (even though you were a little lateimage)

Thanks for you input. Someone got it for $15.00. I saved my money for a better one.

  • Dimitri,
Catalaog says about $40, but I have seen them go for $55 on Ebay.
