Yep. They're polite and ship quickly. I have met with and dealt with the founder of Lockdales, Mr. Lockett and was pleased with the coins I bought from him at a show in London.

I confess I have not purchased as much from them in recent months because prices are more attractive elsewhere.

    Former owner, Cambridge Gate collection.
  • I've bought from them a couple times. No problems at all.
Collector of Fractional Gold; gold tokens from Canada, California, Alaska & other states; gold so-called dollars, and other oddball stuff.

    << <i>Beautiful! Thank you!!!! >>

That was the feedback I left for him, I might have left more exclamation marks, but apparently I liked whatever it was I got from him... seriously though I must have been a happy camper or I wouldn't have left the thank you. I usually write a 'well packaged' or 'easy transaction' type comment though, so maybe it was slow. More likely I was in a hurry because I left feedback and didn't put him on my 'do not bid on his auction list'. I noticed a bunch of the feedback I was leaving that month were pretty short and to the point like that.

But if you ever see a "shigellacat' feedback left with a ton of exclamations, then you know I was happy with the deal image

Very, very professional. Very polite and proper graders. I buy some stock from Lockdales at coin fairs.

The only thing you have to watch is not to get carried away when viewing they're coins. They amass huge volumes of coins through charities and the purchase of collections. This means they get a lot of middle grade coins (VF and EF). Even though the coins are correctly graded you end up paying close to book for a (say) NEF 1868 Halfpenny. This is the type of coin that is almost impossible to sell effectively. It is also probably a loss maker in terms of medium term collecting. The market goes either, Why pay £40 for a coin when all I want is a space filler for £5? or I don't want a NEF, I want close to mint state and I'm prepared to pay £200+

Lockdales have a lot of 'no-mans-land' coins like this and I know first hand that they rely on Ebay to shift them.

    Great outfit.

My experience is that Lockdales often carries some odd and rare British tokens. It might be that they get them as a result of those charities and collections that Lloyd was speaking of.

I know they do get them like that... Stampsl and medals also. The first thing they do when getting a huge lot from a charity is to sort the gold out...!
