"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in spring, when everything else begins again, and blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rain comes, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone."
"You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then, just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops."
-Bartlett Giamatti
Going thru some old cards and came across a 90 Donruss card of Mr. Bart Giamatti and it talked about him alittle and had this as an example of some of the writtings he did about baseball. I was pretty impressed and thought it was worth sharing for those who like myself had never heard it before or new Mr. Giamatti had that little talent.

Adam - I have spoken about this before - I grew up with Yankee stadium and frequented it often while in school in NYC because the bleachers were cheap entertainment. There is nothing like the green grass professionally groomed and outlined in white chalk - for some the game can be slow but in a world of fast food, fast lanes, fast starts......the game can be a breath of fresh air on a Sunday afternoon with the cool breeze at your face in springtime.
Mike
As for the game leaving you in the fall, well, that's why God gave us hockey.
