Amazing non-sports piece

this blew me away, just wanted to share....eBay item # 3284608346

Sorry, don't know how to do links, but with 44 minutes left this thing is up over 7 grand and still under the reserve! Anybody know what it's worth, if it's real?

It is a file copy, not a copy that was retailed. to me that makes a big difference. the guy selling it wants to see how much he can get for it w/o actaully selling it. he had it up for auction once before and pulled it after 4 days. I emailed him and asked if that was his intention again. he sez no, however his reserve is so hi that i do not think it will be reached......is it a great item? yes it is. I would rather add a wrapper though to my mars attacks set before I bid on a file copy box.....my 2 cents
    Good for you.

    M. M. - Its worth is apparently different values to different people. The bidders bid it up to $7355.00 and it didn't meet reserve, so apparently the seller thought it was worth more. If there are only 2 that exist as the seller stated, it is hard to look in a guide to see what the value is. And perhaps the seller has no intention of selling the item, maybe he wanted to see what type of bids it would garner and placed a super high reserve knowing the bids wouldn't meet or exceed it. Not saying this was his intent, but I have seen other sellers try this method to gauge a value of a rare item w/o really auctioning it off...jay

An empty Mars Attacks display box would sell for about 15K to 20K.

Interesting that the empty box is worth about the same as a PSA 7 - PSA 8 set! I know which one I'd rather have.

It is an amazing piece! (The only one I've ever seen!) Collector's are probably having a hard time digesting such a piece quickly enough to react to such an auction.

I do seem to remember the seller's ID from some big time auction wins though, so I am not surprised he is offering such a piece.

I don't know Frank...lots of collectors can own that PSA set...not too many will own one of these! I think I'd take the box.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one.

  • About 3 years ago on Ebay a VG-EX Mars Attacks Box reached $10,000 and still did not meet the minimum. This was the only box I've seen up for auction until this one. I agree that the sellers are floating trial baloons to gauge the value of their rare items. If anyone finds out what the minimum was for this recent item please post it.

I emailed him too asking what the deal was, no response. I rember him having a file copy of attack from space 1¢ box which he also just listed to see how high the bid would go. For me I would rather have a regular bilt up box, ie one that held packs at one time, than this file copy, glued to a piece of paper. But over all I would rather have an unopened pack than the box.
